WAEC WASSCE English Language Marking Scheme And Grading System

The WAEC English exams has  two sections namely Papers 1 and 2. Papers 1 and 2 are combined in a composite paper taken at one sitting.

WAEC WASSCE English PAPER 1 consists of fifty multiple-choice questions, all of which should be answered within 1 hour 30 minutes for 50 marks.

WAEC WASSCE English PAPER 2 consists of two parts with a total of 15 questions. Candidates are to answer ten questions in all; all the questions in part 1 and five questions in part 2. The paper will last 2 hours 30 minutes and carry 100 marks.

 

How is WAEC WASSCE English Graded?

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) WASSCE English Language is graded on percentages. Under the WAEC WASSCE English grading system, the letters A to F are used to indicate how good a result it.

  • A1 = Excellent = 75% – 100% score
  • B2 = Very good =70% – 74% score
  • B3 = Good =65%- 69%
  • C4 =Credit =60% – 64%
  • C5 =Credit =55% – 59%
  • C6 =Credit =50% – 54%
  • D7 =Pass =45% – 49%
  • E8 =Pass =40% – 45%
  • F9 =Failure =0% – 44%
