Reigning World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) World Heavyweight champion lost his award at the just ended ESPN Sport Personalities of the Year (ESPYs) awards.
Kingston won the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) title in April and had been nominated for the award which he hoped he could win after his very successful year.
The awards was held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California, on Thursday, July 11, 2019.
Although the world champion lost out on his award at the just ended 2019 edition of the awards.
He Found comfort with his wife and two sons as they all looked very excited.
After Sharing a photo from the awards ceremony on his facebook page, Kofi Kingston revealed it was such a special experience to spend such quality time with his family. He made the following statement:
We had a great time at the ESPYS! It was even more amazing to share the experience with my family! We all had such an awesome time, especially the boys, lol.
He went on to state that it was an amazing experience as his two sons were very excited.
Kingston’s wife is an actress called Kori Campfield and their sons are called Khi and Orion. Kingston has proven that he is not only a great sportsman but a great father and husband.
His historic win at Wrestlemania 35 was not enough to win him the category as Roman Reigns won it instead.
Kofi’s Visit To Ghana
Born Kofi Nahaje Sarkodie-Mensah in Kumasi on August 14, 1981, the 37-year-old made history with his win in April. He became the first person born in Africa and the second black man ever to hold the title since its inception.
Kofi Kingston made history at WWE’s biggest annual calendar event Wrestlemania 35 in April as he defeated Daniel Bryan to win the the WWE Championship.
After leaving his home country in 1993 to the United States, the WWE stars returned in June 2019 to Ghana on a very successfull four-day visit.
During his visit Kofi paid a courtesy call on the President of Ghana H.E Nana Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House.Where he presented his world title belt to the presidency.
He also visited the Manhyia Palace to pay homage to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and also and also visited his hometown.
He had encounter with the media where he expressed his excitment these statements
“It is amazing to be here. It is fortunate that I get to be in a position to inspire people”
“I am living proof that you can be whatever you want to be”.
“this is the most heartwarming feeling I have felt in a long time”.
Where he also promised to maintain his title.
