The SIM Registration has been extended for another 90 days. This is as announced by Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla on Tuesday, April 26th.

About SIM Registration Extended
- SIM registration is meant to promote the responsible use of SIM and to halt the abuses of scammers and criminals. It is not meant to punish legitimate SIM subscribers.
- RA 11934, which was the first bill signed into law by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Oct. 10, 2022, aims at fighting scams being made through text and online messages.
- On Dec. 27, 2022, the 180-day SIM registration began and was supposed to end on April 26, 2023 however it has been extended by 90 days to July 25th 2023.
- Filipinos are to register their SIM before the new deadline.
- SIMs already in use but not registered within the new registration period will be deactivated while new cards must be registered upon purchase.
Reasons For SIM Registration Extended
- The SIM Registration Deadline extension is to help clarify the confusion and challenges faced by registrants regarding the registration process such as barriers in obtaining government-issued IDs and documents
- The SIM Registration extension is also to allow telecommunication companies to make improvements in the SIM registration process.
- Lawmakers have considered the difficulty in registering more than 168 million SIM subscribers within the initial period and have realized the need to extend the registration period to accommodate all users.
SIM Restrictions – Limitations
- After the initial April 26th 2023 deadline, SIM subscribers will have limited access to services until they finally register.
- Most services rendered by the telecom companies will be restricted
- There will be no social media access for those who do not register in the next 90 days
- Note that SIMs will still be available in local retailers and stores even past the SIM Registration deadline.
- Users will just be required to register first before they can activate their new SIMs
SIM Registration Extended
- The Philippines SIM Registration, which started on December 27th, 2022, is now to end on July 25th, 2023 unless there is another extension
- The initial SIM Registration Deadline was 180 from December 27th, 2022 to April 26th 2023, however the SIM Registration Deadline has now been extended by another 90 days to the new Deadline of July 25th, 2023.

- As of April 23rd, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) data indicates that about 82,845,397, representing 49.31 percent of SIMs have been registered.
- The breakdown are as follows:
DITO: 5,796,175 or 38.73 percent
Globe: 37,099,437 or 42.77 percent
SMART: 39,949,785 or 60.25 percent
