About GES Academic Calendar For SHS, JHS & Basic Schools

• The management of Ghana Education Service (GES) has released the complete academic calendar for 2025 academic year.
• The GES academic calendar is for all Public Schools thus Basic schools (KG-Primary/JHS) and Senior high Schools (SHS) as well as the reopening, Vacation, and the Mid-semester breaks for Basic schools (KG-Primary/JHS) and Senior high Schools (SHS) .

GES Academic Calendar for Basic Schools & JHS

Basic Schools 1st Term Reopening Date (KG, Basic 1 to 6, JHS 1 & 2)

• Students in Kindergarten (KG), Basic 1 to Basic 6, and JHS 1 and 2 resumed school for the first term on September 10, 2024, and attend classes until December 19, 2024.

Basic Schools 1st Term Vacation Date (KG, Basic 1 to 6, JHS 1 & 2)

• The vacation period for KG, Basic 1 to 6, and JHS 1 and 2 will be from December 20, 2024, to January 7, 2025.

Basic Schools 2nd Term Reopening Date (KG, Basic 1 to 6, JHS 1 & 2)

• The second term for KG, Basic 1 to 6, and JHS 1 and 2 will begin on January 8, 2025, and continue until April 17, 2025.

Basic Schools 2nd Term Vacation Date (KG, Basic 1 to 6, JHS 1 & 2)

• Students in KG, Basic 1 to 6, and JHS 1 and 2 will have their second-term vacation from April 18, 2025, to May 5, 2025.

Basic Schools 3rd Term Reopening Date (KG, Basic 1 to 6, JHS 1 & 2)

• The third term will commence on May 6, 2025, and students will attend school until July 24, 2025.

Basic Schools 3rd Term Vacation Date (KG, Basic 1 to 6, JHS 1 & 2)

• The vacation for the third term for KG, Basic 1 to 6, and JHS 1 and 2 students starts on July 24, 2025.

New Academic Calendar for JHS 3

JHS 3 1st Term Reopening Date

• JHS 3 students will return to school on September 10, 2024, for the first term, which will last until December 19, 2024.

JHS 3 1st Term Vacation Date

• JHS 3 students will go on vacation from December 20, 2024, to January 7, 2025.

JHS 3 2nd Term Reopening Date

• The second term for JHS 3 students will begin on January 8, 2025, and run until April 17, 2025.

JHS 3 2nd Term Vacation Date

• The second-term break for JHS 3 students will be from April 18, 2025, to May 5, 2025.

JHS 3 3rd Term Reopening Date

• JHS 3 students will resume for their third term on May 6, 2025, and sit for their BECE exams in July 2025
