About GES Academic Calendar 2025

• The Ghana Education Service (GES), in partnership with the Ministry of Education, has published the Academic Calendar for Senior High School (SHS), Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and Basic Schools.

GES Academic Calendar For SHS 2025

New GES Transitional Academic Calendar

SHS 1st Semester Reopening Dates

• Form 3: Students return to school on 3rd January 2025 and stay until 16th April 2025.
• Form 2: Students return on 30th October 2024 and remain in school until 5th December 2024.
• Form 1: Students resume on 30th October 2024 and continue until 7th February 2025.

SHS 1st Semester Vacation/Break

• Form 3: Vacation runs from 17th April 2025 to 22nd April 2025.
• Form 2: Vacation starts on 6th December 2024 and ends on 9th February 2025.
• Form 1: Students go on break from 8th February 2025 to 25th May 2025.

SHS 2nd Semester Reopening Dates

• Form 3: Students return on 23rd April 2025 and remain in school until 29th August 2025.
• Form 2: Students reopen on 10th February 2025 and stay until 23rd May 2025.
• Form 1: Students return on 26th May 2025 and attend until 25th July 2025.

SHS 2nd Semester Vacation/Break

• Form 2: Break begins on 24th May 2025 and ends on 27th July 2025.
• Form 1: Vacation starts on 26th July 2025 and ends on 30th August 2025.

Return from 2nd Semester Vacation

• Form 2: Classes resume on 28th July 2025 and continue until 17th October 2025.
• Form 1: Students return on 31st August 2025 and stay until 17th October 2025.

New GES Calendar for SHS Single Track

SHS Single Track 1st Semester Reopening Dates

• Form 3, Form 2, and Form 1: All students return to school on 30th October 2024 and stay in school until 5th March 2025.

SHS Single Track 1st Semester Vacation/Break

• Form 3, Form 2, and Form 1: Students go on vacation from 6th March 2025 to 29th March 2025.

SHS Single Track 2nd Semester Reopening Dates

• Form 3, Form 2, and Form 1: All students resume classes on 30th March 2025 and remain in school until 29th August 2025.

New Academic Calendar For Basic Schools

Basic Schools 1st Term Reopening Date

• Students in KG, Basic 1 to Basic 6, JHS 1, and JHS 2 will reopen for the first term on 10th September 2024 and remain in school until 19th December 2024.

Basic Schools 1st Term Vacation

• The first term vacation for KG, Basic 1 to Basic 6, JHS 1, and JHS 2 will start on 20th December 2024 and end on 7th January 2025.

Basic Schools 2nd Term Reopening Date

• The second term for KG, Basic 1 to Basic 6, JHS 1, and JHS 2 will commence on 8th January 2025 and continue until 17th April 2025.

Basic Schools 2nd Term Vacation

• Students in KG, Basic 1 to Basic 6, JHS 1, and JHS 2 will go on vacation from 18th April 2025 to 5th May 2025.

Basic Schools 3rd Term Reopening Date

• The third term for KG, Basic 1 to Basic 6, JHS 1, and JHS 2 will begin on 6th May 2025 and end on 24th July 2025.

Basic Schools 3rd Term Vacation

• Students in KG, Basic 1 to Basic 6, JHS 1, and JHS 2 will begin their third-term vacation on 24th July 2025

New Academic Calendar for JHS 3

JHS 3 1st Term Reopening Date

• JHS 3 students will reopen for the first term on 10th September 2024 and remain in school until 19th December 2024.

JHS 3 1st Term Vacation Date

• The first-term vacation for JHS 3 students will start on 20th December 2024 and end on 7th January 2025.

JHS 3 2nd Term Reopening Date

• JHS 3 students will return for the second term on 8th January 2025 and stay in school until 17th April 2025.

JHS 3 2nd Term Vacation Date

• The second-term vacation for JHS 3 students will run from 18th April 2025 to 5th May 2025.

JHS 3 3rd Term Reopening Date

• JHS 3 students will reopen for the third term on 6th May 2025 and will write their BECE exams in July 2025.
