Role Overview: Junior Trader
In this role, you’ll support daily trading operations and assist senior traders in maximizing the desk’s performance. Your responsibilities will include analyzing markets, executing trades, and managing assigned sections of the trading book. You’ll be expected to maintain compliance with risk and performance standards, contributing to 20% of the desk’s profit objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute basic trades within designated markets under the guidance of senior traders
- Monitor and evaluate market trends, economic data, and geopolitical events influencing market dynamics
- Prepare daily market reports and summaries for internal teams and clients
- Master trading platforms and analysis tools to ensure precise trade execution
- Follow risk management protocols, adhering to trading limits and reporting any irregularities
- Assist in pricing and valuing financial instruments with oversight from senior traders
- Generate trade ideas and insights by analyzing data and gathering market intelligence
- Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and maintain a compliant trading environment
- Coordinate with back-office and middle-office teams to facilitate seamless trade settlements
- Track and report individual performance metrics to support continuous professional growth
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance overall desk performance and foster a high-performance culture
- Take initiative in learning and developing trading skills, market knowledge, and innovative strategies
- Contribute ideas and solutions to help the team meet group and organizational goals
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or a related field
- ACI Dealing Certificate
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in financial markets, with at least two (2) years in a similar trading role
