About NPP Primaries 2024 Results
- The 2023 NPP Presidential Primaries features four candidates, 203,439 delegates, 331 polling stations and 274 voting centers. The four candidates are Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia (the Vice President), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong (Member of Parliament for Assin Central), Dr. Owusu Akoto Afriyie (former Food and Agric Minister), and Francis Addai-Nimoh (former Member of Parliament).
- Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is considered the frontrunner, while Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, is anticipated to be a formidable contender, given his second-place finish in the Super Delegates Conference held in August.
- In the Super Delegates Conference, Dr. Bawumia secured a decisive victory with 629 votes, representing 68.15 percent of the total votes cast. Kennedy Agyapong secured the second position, with former Trade and Industry Minister Alan Kyerematen coming in third.
- The upcoming election to determine the NPP’s flagbearer is expected to involve a total of 203,439 delegates, including 436 delegates who will cast their votes at the party’s headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra.
