Review Of Recruitment Process Into Ghana Police, Fire Service, Immigration & Prisons Service

The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has inaugurated a seven-member committee tasked with reviewing the recruitment procedures for the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Immigration Service, and other agencies under the ministry’s jurisdiction.

The committee comprises highly experienced professionals from security administration, public service, and legal sectors. Their primary responsibility is to assess the transparency, fairness, and integrity of current recruitment processes. Additionally, they will review adherence to established procedures and propose recommendations to improve efficiency, accountability, and fairness in hiring practices.

During the inauguration ceremony, the Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that Ghana’s security services remain professional, efficient, and capable of maintaining national safety. He acknowledged concerns raised about irregularities in the recruitment process and emphasized that the committee’s work aims to address these issues.

The committee’s chairman, Mr. Yaw Akrasi Sarpong Esq., assured both the Minister and the public that the committee would conduct a thorough review and present a detailed report. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to this important initiative and pledged to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure the success of the review process.

The committee has been given a two-week deadline to complete its work and submit a comprehensive report outlining its findings, challenges, and specific policy and institutional reform recommendations.

This initiative is regarded as a crucial step towards strengthening the credibility and professionalism of Ghana’s security institutions.
