Reopening of Schools In Ghana

In a letter released by the Ghana Education Service dated 12th January, GES has announced the reopening date of basic schools for the next academic year.

Also included in the release is the reopening date for Senior High Schools who are already in school but are to break for one week on 28th January after their exams.

About Reopening of Schools In Ghana

The Ghana Education Service (CES) announces to the general public, particularly, parents, teachers and pupils/students of Public KG-Primary, JHS and second Cycle Schools that the re-opening of schools as approved by the Hon. Minister for Education upon the recommendation of the Ministerial committee on Schools’ Calendar is as follows:

Reopening Date For Basic Schools

Reopening Date For JHS 1, JHS 2, JHS 3

• Tuesday, 1 8th January, 2022

Reopening Date For Primary Schools (1-6)

• Tuesday, 1 8th January, 2022

Reopening Date For KG 1-2

• Tuesday, 18th January, 2022

Reopening Date For Senior High Schools (SHS)

Note that the dates below are for Senior High Schools who are already in school but are to break for one week on 28th January after their exams. The reopening date below applies when they break.

Reopening Date For SHS 3

• Monday, 7th February, 2022

Reopening Date For SHS 2

• Monday, 7th February, 2022

Reopening Date For SHS 1

• Monday, 4th April, 2022 (Tentative)

The full calendar for the 2022 Academic Year for pre-tertiary public schools will be made available at various media platforms, MoE/GES websites and other social media handles.
