UCC Minimum Requirements For WASSCE/SSSCE Applicants
- The Minimum Admission Requirements into the University of Cape Coast is aggregate 36 for WASSCE applicants and aggregate 24 For SSSCE applicants.
- WASSCE Or SSSCE applicants must have credit passes in six (6) subjects with overall aggregate not more than aggregate 36 for WASSCEÂ and not more than aggregate 24 for SSSCE.
- Three of the six subjects must be core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies and three must be in relevant electives.
- For purposes of admission, a credit pass in WASSCE means A1 – C6 and a credit pass in SSSCE means A – D.
UCC Minimum Requirements For General Certificate of Education (GCE) Applicants
- Applicants with General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level (obtained not more than three years ago) must, in addition to credit passes in five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level subjects (including English and Mathematics), have, at least, two (2) passes in relevant subjects.
UCC Minimum Requirements For General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE) Applicants
- Applicants with the General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE) results should have credit passes (A-D) in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects including English Language and Mathematics and three (3) relevant elective subjects.
UCC Minimum Requirements For General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) Applicants
Holders of the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE)/ International Baccalaureate (IB) must possess at least Grades A* or A-C in English, Mathematics and Biology at the Standard (SL)/’O’ Level, in addition to three Higher Level (HL – A to C)/’A’ Level (A to D)/IB 2 (A to C) grades in the relevant subjects.

UCC Minimum Requirements For Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
Applicants seeking admission to PhD programmes:
- Must have an MPhil or research MA or MEd or MSc or MBA degree in an appropriate field of study from a recognized university.
- Must have MA or Med or MSc or MBA degree in an appropriate field, with CGPA of 3.5 or better with not more than grade C+.
- Must have scored B+ or better in Research Methods course.
- Must Submit an official transcript of academic record.
- Must Submit at least two referee reports, of which one must be from a former Lecturer.
- Must Submit a 3-5 page proposal on intended area of study including a working bibliography
- Must also satisfy any additional requirements prescribed by the College, Faculty, School or Department such as a selection interview.
