About 2025 Academic Calendar

• The GES in collaboration with the Ministry of Education has released the Academic Year Calendar for Senior High School (SHS), Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and Basic Schools for the next academic year.

2025 Academic Calendar For Basic Schools

1st Term Reopening Date (KG, Basic 1 to 6, JHS 1 & 2)

• Students in Kindergarten (KG), Basic 1 to 6, and Junior High School (JHS) 1 and 2 begun their first term on September 10, 2024, which ended on December 19, 2024.

1st Term Vacation Date (KG, Basic 1 to 6, JHS 1 & 2)

• The vacation period for the first term is scheduled from December 20, 2024, to January 7, 2025.

2nd Term Reopening Date (KG, Basic 1 to 6, JHS 1 & 2)

• The second term for KG, Basic 1 to 6, and JHS 1 and 2 will commence on January 8, 2025, and run until April 17, 2025.

2nd Term Vacation Date (KG, Basic 1 to 6, JHS 1 & 2)

• Students will be on vacation for the second term from April 18, 2025, to May 5, 2025.

3rd Term Reopening Date (KG, Basic 1 to 6, JHS 1 & 2)

• The third term for KG, Basic 1 to 6, and JHS 1 and 2 is set to start on May 6, 2025, and will continue until July 24, 2025.

3rd Term Vacation Date (KG, Basic 1 to 6, JHS 1 & 2)

• The vacation for the third term begins on July 24, 2025.

New Academic Calendar for JHS 3

1st Term Reopening Date

• Junior High School (JHS) 3 students will started their first term on September 10, 2024, and remained in school until December 19, 2024.

1st Term Vacation Date

• The vacation for the first term is scheduled from December 20, 2024, to January 7, 2025.

2nd Term Reopening Date

• The second term for JHS 3 students will begin on January 8, 2025, and run through to April 17, 2025.

2nd Term Vacation Date

• Students will take their second-term break from April 18, 2025, to May 5, 2025.

3rd Term Reopening Date

• The third term for JHS 3 students will commence on May 6, 2025, with students preparing to take their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in July 2025.
