GES Begins Plans For Resumption / Reopening Of Schools After May 31 : Full Details
As part of measures to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, the President of Ghana placed a ban on all public gatherings and closure of all educational institutions.
The ban on public gatherings and closure of all educational institutions was extended to the end of May during the ninth update by the presidency, After the May extention, another decision will be made as to whether students should go back to school or not.

Actually l have strong believe in me that the government will reopen schools by September
Nice
For the basic schools, there should be 3 sections. 8am-10am, 10:30am-12:30pm,1pm-3pm. So when every section close their parents will come for them. No break for the pupils. The 30 minutes interval are for the teachers to rest. Parents are to come to the school and take learners sections.
Hmm
I think the government should open the school for the final years so that they will be able to write their final exams instead of allowing all the students to go to school I think this one will be the best idea because the final year students can maintain the social distance instead of those in the upper primary and and also the kindergartens so I think this will be the best idea because staying at home we can’t even learn but if you are in school we will be studying more than being in homes
Actually is really a good idea but SHS popularity is really massive.Social distancing in the SHS schools will hardly be possible.
It is a nice idea to resume school. I am a teacher in a private school and at the same time a distance learner at the University of Cape Coast. For three months now ,there nothing coming as salary.I am completely dried up because I am a self caretaker. Also, the money I get from teaching is what I use in farming which yields income for me to pay my fees but, this year I could do anything at all.I am wondering how to pay my next year fees.
So for your personal benefit what about the lives of the students at stake and others please reconsider because some schools the bedbugs are working in addition covid19 fumigant can not do please for the sake of the lives reconsider lives cannot be brought back but money can
bcos of your salaries, schools shd be opened and lost a lot of life . what a selfish character you have if you kids let them to go school but for some of us we the parents would not sacrifice our kids life for some people selfishness.
I think is a quite idea to resume school but am afraid students are from various cites and communities or areas affected with this pandemic crisis so government should wait because life a school can be very miserable if care is not taken.
Hmm the idea is ok but since the victims are always increasing, I think the government must take time
I think is the best decision to open schools for student to resume, because we have miss teaching and learning in class, and we can’t wait to experience those moments anymore… Therefore the government must provide all schools with the nose masks to curtail the spread of covid-19.
We are not home because we all wanted to, we are home as a result of a deadly pandemic. We cannot take the situation for granted and employ such a risk because we miss school or want to meet up the schedules from the academic calendar, then why was the closed at the initial moment. Let’s not rush our heads into a decision we may regret later.
How can the president lift the bans when everything is not normal
I think the reopening of schools should be done after all public gatherings are open, secondary schools will find it very difficult to perform social distancing as well as the kindergartens and the primary schools. I therefore plead with the board of education to have a second look at every decision that they take, because it can affect them either positively or negatively. It will be better students resume class in September to start a new academic year.
Yeah
I second your thoughts
This is a step in the right direction, however children unlike adult will find it difficult observing the social distance. If even most adults are not able to do so how much more children. Will government be able to provide nose masks for all these children. My take is that we wait n begin everything anew in September since the academic year has already been distorted
As a parent I think opening of schools is not safe for our children .so the Ghana education service should think about there decision
hi yes I support what you are saying
The government should not lift the ban on schools especially basic schools.Because how can a KG learner use nose mask, and observe social distance .It can’t be possible so they should wait for this pandemic to come down
If de school come to we student will be happy pa yeah we need to resume school after de lock down de mission behind de lock down x good we de student will be happy paa oo we miss our teachers head of department senior masters etc
What happens if a student with COVID-19 shows up in a school. More than 3,000 students will contract the virus and the Scholl will be closed down
Hmmm
This is a very major challenge if what the experts are saying is anything to go by.
How is any teacher or supervisor going to ensure, even looking at the numbers, that children don’t touch their faces or observe physical distancing and wear clean masks all the time? Usually, teachers will be told to do it because “they are trained”. This mentality always make teachers look bad when such expectations are deemed not be adequately met. Teachers should understand their job and know what is possible and what is impossible.
My proposal is that wasce and bece candidates should be allowed to start. If we like, we can add class six. By the time the final years are gone, we would have had time to do more assessment of the situation. This method will also allow for better physical distancing in the institutions.
I believe we cannot go back and continue things as usual. There’s no way anyone can force teachers or students to go to school in this case. We can rather make teachers, students and parents rest assured that school is safe. This is the ultimate.
Hmmm
I agree with you. Good measures should be put in place to ensure the safety of teachers and students. Nose masks should be made compulsory for pupils, students and teachers.
please we should wait for the deadly disease called covid-19 to settle down a bit before resumption of school commence
Yes
If schools are to be reopened, it will be a good idea. But as proposed, stakeholders must be consulted. It shoudn’ t be only teacher bodies, parents, community leaders and NGO’s should be brought on board. Teachers have been doing a lot of sacrifices, and we hope proper plans will be put in place not to over burden them when schools reopen.
True
Good morning fellow Ghanaians, I am not against the idea of going back to school but my worry is is how to observe the social distance in a class of 67 students or more or less. Since the space in the classroom cannot be expanded because the classroom is fixed.
I hope these stakeholders will find a lasting solution to my question so that where students are packed in small classroom built for 35-40 students will be the thing of the past.
Hmmm
