The Electricity Company Of Ghana (ECG) has officially launched its Mobile App called ECG Power to help customers check their meter balance, how much credit they have used within a period and buy ECG credits online.

 

Although there is an ECG Web Portal that allows customers to check their bills, apply for a new service for their premises or homes, make complaints among others, prepaid customers were still unable to buy ECG credits online, the ECG mobile app is to address such challenge. The ECG Mobile App eliminates the inconvenience of joining queues or moving far from your home to buy credits for your meter.

About The ECG Mobile App (ECG Power) And Shortcode

 

The ECG Mobile App which is called ECG Power was launched by the Vice President of Ghana on 18th February 2020. The app was designed by the ICT staff of ECG to make it possible for 2.8 million out of the company’s 3.8 million customers to make payments for power purchased and services rendered by the Company. Smartphone Users can download the app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, create an account, add the meter number, and top up or pay bills using their mobile money wallets. Users of Non-smart phones can as well dial *226# and follow the prompts to use the service.

 

Functionalities Of The ECG Mobile App (ECG Power)

 

ECG Mobile APP is meant for conveniently paying prepaid and postpaid bills, viewing power power usage and getting notified on any ECG activity. Payments on the app can be made through  MTN mobile money, Vodafone Cash and AirtelTigo Money. ECG Mobile App (ECG Power) is a Full featured App for buying power anywhere anytime conveniently. You can as well check power consumption both daily and monthly on periodic chart basis as well as Pay ECG bills, check your balance on a ECG account among other functionalities.

 

 

About The New Mobile ECG Shortcode

To Use The ECG Mobile Shortcode (*226#) Service To Pay Bills And Top Up Your Credit Balance Using A Non Smart Phone (YAM Phones) you need access the ECG Mobile Shortcode for ECG Services on your phone. With the new ECG Shortcode, you can Top up your ECG prepaid, Pay your ECG Bills and Update your customer information with ECG. The shortcode is accessible on all the telecommunication networks nationwide. The shortcode is accessible on all the telecommunication networks in Ghana.

How To Use The ECG Mobile App (ECG Power) To Pay Bills And Top Up Your Credit Balance Using A Smart Phone

 

Follow the steps below to buy ECG prepaid or pay bills with the ECG mobile app:

 

  1.  Install the ECG App from Google Play Store or the App Store
  2. Then Create a new account on the ECG App with your Email, Phone number and enter a password
  3.  Afterwards Add your first metre number by clicking on the (+) sign
  4. If you have more than one metre you can then proceed to add the second metre by clicking on the (+) sign again
  5. Choose the Top-up module to top up your balance
  6. Choose the Pay Bills Module to pay bills for your postpaid metre
  7. Then Confirm the payment via your Mobile Money
  8. If you experience errors while adding your meter, wait for a while and try again. If it persists, restart your mobile device and try again.

  1. Please I want to submit my meter reading but if I enter submit, they ask me to provide service point number but I don’t know it. How can I go about it please?

  2. When setting up the app there’s a point you are ask to provide your CUSTOMER ACCOUNT NUMBER which was indicated that you can find it on last receipt but I can’t find it isn’t a SPN number on your last purchase receipt. I will be glad if I can get the feedback immediately thank you.

  4. I use the clou meter and I’ve never been able to buy credit remotely. The prompt keeps saying ‘unable to establish remote connection with meter’. I would appreciate if this could be looked into because the long queues we have to join just to buy prepaid credit is ridiculous.

Of late this app is not working making those us with the cardless metres suffer.if ur prepaid finish ,u have to travel to the district ecg office before u can get light which is quit tiring and frustrating .from my end too is like an hour journey and the transportation involved and if u are not lucky u get there after 4pm wat they will say is that we hv close ,go and come tomorrow without listening to u

  9. My payment yesterday night did not reflect. All I keep getting in my ECG power all notifications are error messages and system down “go to vendor or office”.

    I went to a vendor soaked wet in the rains this evening to purchase again but it did not reflect. At least I got a token unlike the app.
