The Minister of State for the Office of President, Madam Freda Akosua Prempeh has revealed that the mass entrepreneurship policy under the YouStart programme will lead to more sustainable jobs for NABCO Trainees.

About YouStart Initiative

  • The YouStart Initiative offers a solution to the unemployment canker in Ghana. The consolidated approach and the major drive towards entrepreneurship under YouStart, is to help business-minded NABCO trainees who are currently at the exit phase of the NABCO Scheme.
  • This is as made known with the statements “Youstart will lead to more sustainable Jobs” “Mr Speaker, within the 2022 budget, the government has consolidated its approach to employment based on entrepreneurship under the YouStart programme. The YouStart will enable young Ghanaians to be supported both technically and financially, to start their own enterprise”

NABCO YouStart Ghana Initiative

  • NABCO is a flagship project initiated by the Government which started with the recruitment of 100,000 tertiary graduates, with the goal of improving public service delivery through temporary job creation to unemployed graduates. YouStart Ghana is part of the NABCO exit plan

 

Components Of YouStart Initiative

  • The YouStart program will provide district Level Loans of up to GHc10,000 after 2- 3 months of training.
  • The YouStart program will provide Soft loans of up to GHc 50,000 to help existing start-ups to help them grow and expand
  • The YouStart program will provide standard loans between GH(100,000 to GHc400,000 for SMEs through financial institutions.

 

YouStart Requirements – Eligibility Criteria

To benefit from the YouStart programme

  • You must have a business Startup in Ghana
  • You must be under the age of 35 years.
  • You must be a Graduate or High School Leaver
  • You must Entrepreneurs under the age of 35

 

What Does YouStart Offer

YouStart Offers the following

Training 

  • YouStart Offers Skills Development, Entrepreneurial Support and Business Advisory Services

Funding

  • YouStart Offers access to Credit facility and Starter Packs

Enterprise Promotion

  • YouStart Offers Mentoring and Access to Markets and Portal to facilitate business cooperation between youth- led enterprises, other businesses and Government agencies.

 

How To Apply for Youstart Ghana Initiative

The Youstart Ghana Initiative starts in April onwards. The Youstart online application portal will be activated after the launch of the Youstart Ghana Initiative and announced on the social media platforms of stakeholders. The portal will only be accessible after the launch.
