Leadership of the teacher unions who met with stake holders to discuss the strike action and the way forward, has expressed displeasure and hereby inform their members that the meeting they had on 6th July with government over the Cost Of Living Allowance (COLA) has ended inconclusively.

Teachers Strike Update

• This means that the strike is still ongoing until further notice.
• So as it stands now, the strike action continues and teachers will still be at home until our demands are made
• The Four teacher unions declared an indefinite nationwide on July 4th for the non payment of the Cost of Living Allowance as demanded
• The main reason for the teachers strike is due to failure of government to honour the payment of their 20% Cost-Of-Living-Allowance (COLA).
• As outlined in the release by the teacher unions, their demand for the Cost Of Living Allowance (COLA) is due to high inflation leading to increment in prices of fuel, goods and services.
