The Ghana Scholarship Secretariat’s Online Scholarship Application and Administration System was launched by the Vice President, Dr. Bawumia  in Accra on Tuesday, March 31, 2020.  The launch of the Online portal was in line with Government’s vision to digitize and formalize government service delivery processes and to help to eliminate the inconvenience that Ghanaians experience seeking government sponsorship and also help the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat to properly and efficiently administer scholarships in the country. In just four (4) steps, any applicant can apply for Scholarship from the comfort of their homes, take an aptitude test and be interviewed in their own districts without having to travel to Accra as was done in the past. How To Apply For A Scholarship Using The Online Application Process for Ghana

To apply for scholarship using the recently launched online scholarship application procedures by the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat:

1. Begin the scholarship application process by visiting  www.scholarshipgh.com.
2. Afterwards, Create an account on the online scholarship portal to register and start filling the online application form
3. Fill the the online scholarship application form on the portal with the required details
4. Afterwards Upload your academic transcripts, admission letters, academic certificate and other necessary documentation in PDF format
5. After filling the online scholarship application form, you will be required to complete an online aptitude test
6. If you pass the online aptitude test, you will be scheduled for a selection interview in your district.

Requirements For Scholarship Application In Ghana On www.scholarshipgh.com

To apply for scholarship using the recently launched online scholarship application procedures by the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat, you must meet the following requirements as stated by the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat.

1. You Should have gained admission into a tertiary institution in Ghana
2. You Should have already registered and enrolled to undertake the programme at the tertiary institution
3. The tertiary institution should be accredited by the National Accreditation Board (NAB)
4. The following Categories of Local Tertiary Institutions are allowed: Private and Public tertiary institution such as Nurses/Teacher Training Colleges, Colleges of Agriculture, Polytechnics, Technical Universities, Universities and Certificate awarding tertiary institutions.

When To Apply For The Ghana Scholarship Secretariat online scholarship

1. New applications are being received from June 16th to 31st July
2. Continuing students are to apply for the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat online scholarship between 1St April and 15Th May of each academic year.
3. New students who had late admission are to apply for the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat online scholarship between 1st – 30th September of each academic year

What To Do After The Online Scholarship Application

1. You will be required to undertake an online aptitude test during the application process.
2. Afterwards, you are required to appear before a panel for interviews in your selected district
3. Your information will then be forwarded to the appropriate institutions of for confirmation and validation.
4. You will be issued with Electronic award letters will by the Ghana Scholarships Secretariat.
5. Payment of scholarship entitlements will then be made to the respective institutions

APPLICATION PROCEDURES FOR LOCAL TERTIARY SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

1. The Local Tertiary scholarship are awarded in form payment of Thesis and Bursary grants to Postgraduate Students in the Public Tertiary Institutions in Ghana.
2. The Local Tertiary scholarship award also covers payment of Disability Grants to the Physically Challenged Ghanaian Students in Tertiary Institutions and Long Stay Allowance for Medical Science students in Public Tertiary Institutions in the Ghanaian tertiary institutions.

Processes Involved In Awarding Local Tertiary Scholarship

1. Application forms are downloaded from the Secretariat’s website at www.ghanascholarshipsecretariat.com , after a registration code is sent to the various institutions at the beginning of an academic year.
2. Completed application forms are to be endorsed by the designated institutional authority and submitted through the Dean of Graduate School to the Ghana Scholarships Secretariat.
3. The Local Tertiary scholarship does not apply to sandwich, part-time, private or fee paying students in public tertiary institutions.
4. The submitted documents are then vetted by the Scholarship  Secretariat to ensure conformity to eligibility criteria.
5. For Disability allowance, the completed application forms are to be accompanied with medical certificate stating the percentage of disability.

How To Apply For Local Tertiary Scholarship

APPLICATION PROCEDURES FOR FOREIGN TERTIARY SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

1. Foreign tertiary scholarship awards cover scholarships at the tertiary level of education in a foreign country.
2. Foreign tertiary scholarship awards are based on a Bilateral Cooperation Agreement between the Government of Ghana and the Government of the awarding country.

Countries That Award Foreign Tertiary Scholarship To Ghanaians Without counterpart Funding From Government

The Commonwealth Secretariat also award scholarships to Ghanaians at the postgraduate level based on a multilateral arrangement between Ghana and Commonwealth member countries.

• Mauritius Government Scholarship

Processes Involved In Awarding Foreign Tertiary Scholarship

1. Scholarship offers under Bilateral Cooperation Agreements are received through Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
2. The Ghana Scholarship Secretariat then does the following:

• Makes Publicity on the Secretariat’s website and notice board, as well as one newspaper with nationwide circulation
• Receives and processes applications based on eligibility criteria
• Interviews and selects applicants by a committee.
• Submits selected applicants to the awarding country for further consideration.
• Communicates successful scholarship awards to successful applicants.
