All About The Ghana Education Service (GES) Aptitude Test
The first batch to ever write the Ghana Education Service (GES) recruitment aptitude test was the graduate recruitment for the double track educational system. Not only is the National Teaching Council (NTC) teaching license now a requirement for recruitment but also the Ghana Education Service (GES) recruitment aptitude test after applying for recruitment.
What is surprising about this years recruitment process is that the Ghana Education Service (GES) is not only recruiting for college of education graduates but also university graduates who offered Basic Education (Bed). As stated in the release by the GES:
There are also limited vacancies for graduates with early childhood / Basic Education who meet all the criteria for consideration.
This leaves us to the question of whether there will be a GES recruitment aptitude test this recent recruitment process. Although it is not officially confirmed. GES recruitment aptitude test has recently become a norm for Senior High School recruitment, will same be done for the recruitment at the basic level. The answer could be yes. To the dismay of college of education graduates who are supposed to be bonded by the government of Ghana. What it would mean now is that, not only do they have to get a teaching licence, they also have to do the mandatory one year national service in addition to writing the Ghana Education Service (GES) recruitment aptitude test. The hurdles to be crossed now to become a teacher is outrageous and unprecedented.
Although we are quite sure major stakeholders such as the Trainee Teachers Association Of Ghana ( TTAG) and Principals of Teacher Training Colleges (PRINCOF) may not allow this, it is still a possibility. As everything is possible under this regime of “Educational Reforms”.
In this article, just like avenuegh.com’s concise articles and guidance on the National Teaching Council (NTC) licensure exams, we seek to give same guidance and assistance on passing the Ghana Education Service (GES) aptitude test.
Although rumors are that the recent GES recruitment which ended on 15th September is for the basic level only, it is said that there will be another recruitment for the Senior High Schools come October 2019. But whichever the case it is good to prepare for a GES aptitude test in advance especially if you are a university graduate who offered an education program and seek to work with the GES at the Senior High School level. So that the last hurdle to be crossed would not set you back.
